Linda Ambrosetti

Linda Ambrosetti is an Italian woman who arrived in Aotearoa more than six years ago. She began practicing yoga and exploring mindful practices shortly before leaving Italy. During the Covid period, her interest deepened significantly, and she spent most of the lockdowns studying, reading, and practicing as much as possible. Yoga became a powerful anchor, helping her stay centred during a time when nothing felt certain.

After moving to Nelson, Linda started attending regular classes and there she met her favourite teacher, Julie. Two years ago, she travelled to India to complete her first 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training—an incredible experience that taught her the true meaning of yoga: union. Six months later, she completed a 100-hour YTT in Nelson with her teacher. A few months ago, she returned to India to the same school, where she translated Pranayama and Ashtanga classes for a group of Italian students.

All of these experiences have shaped the path that has led her to where she is today. Linda currently teaches yoga in a couple of gyms around town and is deeply excited to continue unfolding what is yet to come.

Her classes follow a traditional Hatha Yoga style. She likes to begin with conscious breathing and pranayama to activate the nervous and digestive systems, then gently warm up the joints before flowing through three to five rounds of Hatha Surya Namaskar. This prepares the body for standing and seated postures, followed by relaxing stretches and a final rest in Shavasana.

Linda’s classes are gentle and flowy, gracefully harmonising breath and movement to prepare the body to embrace the day in the most loving way. She looks forward to meeting students on the mat and sharing a precious time of presence and mindfulness together. The joy of being present, she believes, is the greatest gift we can give to ourselves and to others.
